Rolfing originated within an evolutionary vision on the bio/physical
domain of the human being. In this vision part of the physical basis of
consciousness rests on a special dynamic relational holism: the fascial
network. The coherence found within the connective tissue
system, the fascial web, is experienced through its plasticity, its elasticity
and its integrative strength in the human body.
Ida Rolf brought rolfing towards the leading edge of the body/mind/synthesis approach in the culture of bodywork specifically and the health-centered approach in general. Rolfing is a highly effective bodywork method. Its vision of development allows for a non- mechanical, integrative approach leading to an ever-emerging, cyclical, spiraling and unfolding process.
The goal of Rolfing is to restore balance
and integration to the human body so that we can make use
of its full potential. Rolfing is a system of soft-tissue manipulation
and movement education to realign and reorient the body. The realignment
and space that you find as a result of this balancing create
a resonance in how you relate to yourself and to your environment. This
opens a window to mindfulness and awareness as resources for finding individual
direction.
Some reasons people come to rolfing are: they have a
quest, comfort and ease, to resolve physical problems
and pains, to heal trauma, to find balance and center an so on; all are
valid reasons. The basic series of rolfing consists of 10 sessions. After
this initial series, advanced rolfing sessions can be taken. Please contact
us for an appointment.
